CHICAGO — 

Flooding has closed a major interstate in the Chicago area and caused heavy traffic delays on other roads. 

Interstate 290 is closed between Mannheim Road and 25th Avenue and there's standing water slowing traffic around Western Avenue. The Illinois Department of Transportation says at least eight cars have been reported under water. 

There's also standing water on Interstate 90/94 both north and south of the Loop. North of the Loop, there's standing water around Addison Street, and south of the Loop, there's water between 83rd and 87th streets. Southbound traffic is being diverted at 83rd Street. by chicago tribun
